I'm trying to apply a surface template for a mill and overlay project at an intersection. When I apply the surface template with milling components, I receive an error that says the template is invalid because there are no depths in the template. Is there another way to achieve the mill and overlay here, such as draping a proposed terrain on existing ground? Then I could create a surface template with my existing depths.

I'm trying to do the same thing with a surface template at an intersection. I'm using a milling component in my template. While the pavement layers show up the milling component does not.
Been there, done that, did not get the "T" shirt. Apparently, milling templates are not compatible with surface templates.
I think I even tried using vertical offsets to model a curbed island and that also did not work.

The solution to generate Milling/Overlay components for Surface Templates is to use the create closed mesh Tool.

Very simple example, only one object for top and Bottom, in latest releases you can select any set of TMs, Meshs, Corridors, ... as base objects for top / Bottom.
