InRoads ss4 and .xin file

Question

I have an .xin file that I had created and has been in use now for several years for field survey using Trimble TSC3 data collectors. This worked great with InRoads ss2, but now we have upgraded to InRoads ss4. Through the feature definitions within the Civil standards, within the project explorer, I can load and see the .xin file. When I load survey data (csv) into the InRoads explorer, I can see the csv file, however when I view the field book, all of the survey feature codes are shown as error. At this point in time I am not using all of the dgnlib files because they need to be set up for our survey. For now I need to be able to load and process survey data as was done with ss2. 
 
 How do I get ss4 the read the .xin file?

I have exported (I think) from my Inroads SS3 the preference file that I was using for survey points and codes. Levels had already been setup in SS3 and I have opened a seed file into SS4, all levels are there my preference are not so data is not showing up. I tried to import my .XIN file but it did not work. any help would be appreciated.

You should start a new topic to ask a new question. That said, in the Wiki pages are a number of videos on the steps to bring in survey data. You should watch all of them to see at the very least, how it is supposed to work.
