[OR Ss4] Resolving Crossing Breaklines on Inside Corners of Corridors

I am doing site grading and often have to run a linear template or corridor around a walkway that has sharp bends. There is a fair amount of inconsistency as to how the software develops its template solutions. Sometimes, it seem to trim up what would be "bow-tie" crossings and at other locations, they run the breaklines too far down one inside edge resulting in what can best be described as "nonsense" or as one of my old colleagues used to say "scram-gravy".

Is there any settings available to control how these tight corners are resolved. Currently, I am having to edit the resulting DTM of to attempt to manipulate the 3D mesh - both of which are fraught with the potential of being reconstituted back to the default results during subsequent sessions in the file.

  • We run into the same issue on the survey side of things with existing ground surfaces.  This program has never triangulated correctly, no program has.  The issue, as you have described, is that you can fix the issue by editing the triangle but they revert back to the original 'bad' triangulation when new data is added.  It's really quite horrible how this software acts in that regard.  Why can't we make a change to the TIN THAT HOLDS.  Every other software platform I have used does this quite efficiently.

If your project is a 5 mile road topo this adds a tremendous amount of time and cost to the project without any gain at all.  I head OpenRoads was supposed to of fixed this issue, i was told so by a friendly Bentley support person via an email exchange on this very subject.  Guess they were wrong.
