alignment still displays after break command

Question

I am new to Power InRoads, so maybe I just don't know how the BREAK command works. I am using Power InRoads SS3 ver 08.11.09.674 
 I can break an alignment (created from Horizontal Geometry - Complex by PI) successfully leaving a gap in the alignment. But when I hover over the complex element, the full length of the original element is displayed. If I select the element, I see the entire original length. I have turned off the graphic group lock. Is this normal? Why does InRoads display the original element?

 An alignment created from Horizontal Geometry holds civil rules. When you hover over the alignment after you have broken it, it displays the original line to aid in understanding the rules. These two lines become a child of the original. When you break the alignment, the rules do not change. 
 
 For example, below is my original alignment with the rules shown.

I break the element...

When I select the left break of the element it displays the rules that define that element which are tied to the original element...

If you notice in your Civil Model within the Project Explorer, you'll have three Linear Elements. The two elements I created with the Break are now children of the original element. 
 
 If I wanted to change the location of the Break, I would select the handle and move it along the original alignment...

And now it looks like...
