Roadway Template Point Property Dialog is Hidden

How do you get back to the Point Properties dialog when it becomes hidden? When another application takes the focus away from the Point Properties modal window, it gets lost and I cannot figure out how to get back to it.

  • Does pressing Esc close the hidden dialog?

Also, sometimes you can use the Alt+Spacebar to activate the control menu (upper left corner) and then press M (for Move) and then use one of the arrow keys to start the Move command. After that, the dialog box will actually be attached to your mouse cursor and can be placed somewhere with a left mouse button and at that point, you are back in business.

  • I have positively identified the problem. If I am using the "browse for point" button when an incoming email message arrives and steals the focus, I get locked up.

  • Have you found a solution to this though? I've had this issue occur a bunch of times, and it is insanely frustrating. I know, Bentley and users will likely tell me I should just save every 5 minutes, but really, I shouldn't have to do so just so they can avoid fixing their software."

Is anyone actually looking to do something about this bug? It's one of the more infuriating problems with the software.

  • Additionally, I can intentionally make this problem happen. I discovered accidentally that if I am in the middle of browsing for a point in the template and I realize that my music is not playing; if I switch to the player and turn the music on (while still in the point-browsing process), I cannot get back to the template dialog.

  • Yes, the way it has been occurring to me is when I'm creating new sets of templates (I'm doing a lot of that as I've just begun using OpenRoads recently, past several months) if I need to grab measurements from a PDF, even refer to a different PDF file, and I click on it at that same point as you mention, after clicking the button to choose to select a different edit point, but before actually selecting the point - it loses that window and it's impossible to get it back. Eventually OpenRoads will just freeze and you lose however many hours work you had put into the template.

Since I'm trying to develop intelligent templates that I can use in a wide range of situations and have it automatically adjust, then this has meant the loss of 6 hours work in one go. Sadly this has happened multiple times, and it really irks me that Bentley doesn't seem to give a brass razoo about this bug in their software.
