InRoads SS2
I have a pavement section that I need to split into two separate components for left and right side shoulder reconstruction. The only way I know to accomplish this is to delete everything on one side, then completely reconstruct the now missing side. Is there another way?
You can trace a new component over the points on one side and then delete those points from the original component. This way, any point names and constraints are preserved and if there are child components, you can re-parent them to the new component since the original component is never deleted, just modified.

Why not just make two copies, call one LEFT and one RIGHT (or whatever) and then delete the right side of the LEFT template and the left side of the RIGHT template and there you have it! Am I missing something?
Okay, I just read your post a bit more. You could still just make two copies and delete individual points on the component for the unwanted half.
I was assuming it was one component in a multiple component template. I usually make a scratch folder in my libraries where I can drag in a template, remove unwanted components and points, to then drag the remains back into another template - usually set to reflect, but sometimes to add some part of one template into another. Too bad we can't right click Copy and right click Paste right in the editor.
This works, thanks! I didn't realize that when you create a constrained component on top of an existing one, it copies the all the point properties as well.
