Is there a reason the superseded sections of alignments stay in the active drawing and cannot be deleted when using complex redefine? They seem to remain as a complex element and when I delete it affects the new alignment.
Also, for a Bentley representative: Are there any upcoming Connect updates that will expand on the geometry editing functionality? It is extremely cumbersome making changes to vertical and horizontal geometry right now. Things we could do with InRoads 10 years ago take significantly longer in ORD.
ORD Update 2 will address the elements from complex redefine still being linked and allow them to be deleted. This release will also bring several geometry editing improvements that will assist. We will be presenting these enhancements at the upcoming Learn conference in Phoenix and the material will be available through CONNECT Adviser shortly afterwards.
I'd be interesting in getting a list of items you consider cumbersome so please feel free to reach out with an email or log a SR to discuss these.
Regards
Ian
I am unable to avail myself of ORD at this time, but in Ss4, I really miss the flexibility that the Horizontal and Vertical Element tools provide. Being able to manipulate individual elements within an alignment or to replace multiple elements with a single new element without "breaking" or having to create a child element is invaluable.
There may be many times when design intent will be useful, but sometimes, we just need to modify an alignment and what was easy in Pre-OpenRoads alg based alignments eludes me.
