Hi there. I am trying to create utilities from 2d line strings in a dgn file, using the utility filter. If I use the "Create by selection" method there is no problem and the conduit draw as defined in the features and element template. But when I use the filter method nothing happens. From the filter menu I can see what lines should be affected by the filter, and all the correct lines are highlighted.
I don't know if there is something, somewhere I need to check or uncheck for the program to be able to create utilities from the filter method. All the videos I can find go through the procedure of creating from 2D graphics, does not show any problems by creating from filter.
The filter I'm applying is identifying the layer name, and should create conduits accordingly to what I have specified.
If there is any "oh this thing does not work" or bug that I'm not aware off, and I have to use a different kind of selection method other by layer name I would love to know what it might be.
If anyone has ever had issues similar to this I would love to hear from you.

I recently experienced the same but didn't investigate yet.
When you experienced this, did you try any alternatives like using a color or line type filter? I only have to different types of conduits, but a lot of kilometers of them, so giving them unique line types or colours would be easy. I have not, as of yet been able to use the filters, and I’m afraid I’m missing some small setting somewhere.
thank you for replying by the way
Make sure you select appropriate element types as part of the utility filter - line, line string, etc. This might be the step that you are missing?

I would confirm what Jonathan is saying. I always filter on type of entity (line and line string for conduits, cells for nodes) because you can get too much entities from filter that are not appropriate to the type of SUE entity that you want to create. If you attach the file, it could be analysed.

When I added more rules to the filter, such as line string; colour etc. It worked. Problem now is that the extracted utilities are hard to manipulate. I have some fiber optic cables that has to have both a vertical and horizontal radius of 4 meters... At the same time, and I can't get my scruffy little head around how to define it.
