Hi guys
I need to export some models designed in Openroads to 3D Solids so I can imprt them to Navisworks. I have been told that if I save an Openroads model as a DWG, it will export the drainage to 3D Solids, then I can NWCOUT from there. When I "Save As" or "Export" to DWG, the pipework is exported as flat polylines..... What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance
Are you exporting the 'Default' or 'Default-3D' model?
I have just noticed, it is exporting 2D and 3D models, I was just opening the 2D one. I never noticed the 2nd file. Doh...
Are you missing a trick here - Navisworks will open dgn files so you may not need to mess about converting to dwg

Can Navisworks consume OpenRoads pavement meshes and use it for for clash detection? Navis will open dgn, that is true but it is a big pain with meshes. Some workarounds say to convert meshes to solids with a keyin and use macro to clean it up. I would rather avoid creating additional models and would like to use native default-3d models created with ORD.
Unfortunately it looks navis is becoming industry standard. This affecting OpenRoads users since they produce meshes... What is your best practice when you need to deal with ORD and Navis?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Best,
Adam

Unfortunately Openroads meshes have an issue with holes in meshes that means you will have to export to DWG first for a decent result.
