Hi guys
I need to export some models designed in Openroads to 3D Solids so I can imprt them to Navisworks. I have been told that if I save an Openroads model as a DWG, it will export the drainage to 3D Solids, then I can NWCOUT from there. When I "Save As" or "Export" to DWG, the pipework is exported as flat polylines..... What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance
Are you missing a trick here - Navisworks will open dgn files so you may not need to mess about converting to dwg
Unfortunately Openroads meshes have an issue with holes in meshes that means you will have to export to DWG first for a decent result.
Openroads DGN vs DWG in Navisworks:

Please note this doesn' t always happen but often enough for us to not to not bother even trying to import OR dgns
Thanks Marks. So basically you export Default-3D model to dwg? and than meshes can be used for clsh deteciton in Navis?

Hi Adam,
In order to avoid some errors during export, we create a new 3d only DGN, reference in the Default-3d model only (with unwanted levels turned off) and merge to master. This works well and has all civil data stripped so they are all Unlocked Microstation meshes.
Except for the open meshes created by clipped corridors, etc. Standard clash detection in Navisworks works fine. Personally I prefer the one in SUE but we don't have a choice most of the time.
