"Out of the box" plans production

What's the best way to do general notes, indexes, tables etc using the civil (ANSI D) title block?

I don't have my own CAD manager so I haven't gotten to the point where I'm using my own title block yet.  I plan to use TDOT's but don't know how to tell ORD that want I want to do.

I figured I'd create one file for all the supplementary sheets and put named boundaries for each each sheet I want to create.

And how do you edit the block text of the out-of-the-box sheet cell (or any other one for that matter)?

What would be the procedure for placing items (like a PE stamp, scale bar, north arrow, etc) on each sheet ?  Gotta do it one by one?

PROFILES

Is there a video or best practice for placing multiple profiles (side roads, driveways) on the same sheet?

  • I don't have or know OpenRoads yet, but I can tell you that I do a lot of what you are describing with Reference files. Then I place sheet-specific information in each sheet.

I'm sure that the OpenRoads Gurus have a better method than that, and will be along shortly to explain it to you.

It's also possible that TDOT may have some sort of User Manual, explaining their standards and how they are supposed to work. Not every DOT does that, and some are better than others...but it's worth investigating. Depending on your deliverables, it may be better to stick to what your DOT wants, instead of the Bentley way (when there's any discrepancy).
