Will OpenRoads Designer update 2 include the ability to create plan and profile sheets in separate files? Instead of creating all the plan and profile sheet models and drawing models in a single file.
Example: Plan sheet 1 would include one drawing model and one sheet model. Plan sheet 2 would include one drawing model and one sheet model. The drawing models would reference a "container file", which the named boundaries and references reside. The sheet models reference the drawing model contained in the same file.
We are currently waiting on a Platform update where we can add this into the OpenRoads product. It should come in a near future release but we don't have a specific timeframe since we are waiting on the platform build for this ability.

So if we plan on using OpenRoads Designer in the next year , should we design our systems to house sheets and drawing models in a single file or multiple files?
A lot of us out here use Projectwise iplot renditions and projectwise titleblock attributes. Projectwise should be able to handle a single file approach, just may be a little tricky setting it up and implementing a workflow. FYI, The benefits of dividing sheets out into separate files allows multiple users to work continuously on a project. Plus having separate files aids in revision, as-built and archiving work.
I can understand the multiple file approach, I have used it in many Autocad projects. If it doesn't work in OpenRoads Designer, that is fine. CAD managers just need to know so adjusts to our CAD systems (standards) can be made.
Hi Chris,
Has this functionality been added? Running update 3 and can't find such option for cross sections at least. Thanks.
Chris, I want to add to Krysztof's question. I am running update 3.043. The ability to create individual plan sheet files does not appear to be available yet. I am looking for an update about whether this is still planned and an approximate time frame.
Thanks,
Jason
Can we have updated on it please? At the moment we can't effectively use drawing production functionality in ORD.
