Hi,
I'm stuck on knowing how to add a layby to an alignment that I want to add a corridor and template drop to. The long term goal is to get cross sections of this area.
Does any one know how to do this or if there is a tutorial on this kind of thing?
I will continue to look myself but right now I am totally stumped on how to do this.

I would create a horizontal and vertical alignment for the back of the layby and then use a point control for the edge of carriageway to follow the back of layby.
I would then create another horizontal and vertical alignment for the smaller, thin island and then place a linear template on it to model the kerbs. I would then place a surface template to model the island construction.
Ah ok, so as far as centre and kerb alignments are concerned is this what you mean:
Not quite - I wouldn't create a separate alignment for the back of the layby, however the line you have created could be used as the element to point to in a point control. You might want to make sure the straights do not overlap as you you will get strange results when you apply a point control. Also, you could create the rest of the alignment for the thin island because I assume this would be kerbed
Thanks for your reply Martin. I'm sorting out my template at the moment, once I've got that fixed I'll take another look at my alignments.
When working on a template that has a point that will be pushed or pulled by a point control, use the right click menu on the point selecting test horizontal/vertical/both controls. Then, that point will follow your cursor and you can see what will happen as that point is modified by the control. It's a quick way to figure out which point constraints need to be changed.

Thanks Chuck, I just came across that and it is really handy.
Finally got my head around the parent/child relationship with the point controls. Hopefully I'll have a working template by the end of the day.
