How do you create a proposed pond surface when you have proposed contours that tie into existing? The drainage engineer has laid out proposed contours which tie into existing contours and would like the basin to display in the 3D view and be shown on cross sections. I am utilizing OpenRoads in Microstation. Geopak 08.11.09.878 and Microstation v8i (SELECT series 4) 08.11.09.832.
Below is the situation. Proposed contour lines in green/yellow and existing in pink/red:
Create the existing terrain from the existing contours. Do the same for the proposed pond, by selecting the proposed contours (you may need to add a 'boundary line for the common edges). Clip the existing using the proposed to get the as-built situation.
Matt - are you familiar with the Site Modeler? I would create a model with the existing terrain as the "base" object. Then create a new object for the pond and use the 3D Element command to import the pond grading into the model. You can export the finished graphics or a .tin of the pond or overall grading plan to use.
John - I am not familiar with site modeler but I think I am following the process you described. Thank you for the help!
Mark - Thank you for the information. I will try to see if I can make the surface. I was trying to avoid having to manually clip the existing contours to the proposed and then making a full shape for each contour.
