I know that this SHOULD be easy. The design file background is white. I have tried going to file>settings>preferences and choosing "black background -> White" both on and off with no change. I have tried going to file>settings>Color Table and changing the B to a different color, but I get no change. How the heck do I change the background color. After 8 hrs straight of looking at a white screen, my eyes are killing me.
Question - Is it a sheet model?

Joe may be on to something. If the model in question IS a sheet model, you will need to change the color of that in your preferences. Under "View Options" you should (near the bottom of the dialog) be able to set the default Sheet Model Background Color to black (or whatever else you like).
I HATE white screens when doing CAD.

Thanks Mary, I always have the sheet model set to a black background as well. I hate the white one as well.
Out of the box OpenRoads comes with Display Style "Illustration" set to a white background. (set on the seed file)
