Hi all,
Does anyone have a good way to separate ORD sections from the ORD model? The issues I am having are:
1. Fatal error when I try to export to DWG
2. Replacement of text values with hashes (#) when I open them in Microstation CONNECT
3. Replacement of point labels to "NONE" if I export the section sheets only to V8 DGN
Ideally it'd be great to get the last method to work.
Regards,
Mark
can you provide your dgn to try it here? are you using update 2?

A solution I have found is to:
1. In ORD, drop the text (using Complex) to remove their annotation group properties, making them normal text
2. Ensure "Merge Visible Edges of 3D Attachments" in References of DWG Export options is ticked (and all are set to "Merge")
3. It now successfully exports to a DWG

Please note this is a solution to cross sections, but long sections does not export text values or dynamic section lines
Yes. I can reproduce this and I filed a defect. thanks

Hi Mark,
I'm also playing with exporting ORD sections and was quite successful with long section (I was exporting selection set and went smoothly) but was stuck with cross section. Below is an result of export to dwg - it looks like complete 3D model is merged rather than section cut only. Any idea? My settings are as per your suggestion, I'm exporting to dwg 2013-2017. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
I get the same result. Mark Shamoun can you advise how to get 2D drawing visible edges only? J have that setting checked in but get the same results as Krzysztof.
Best,
Adam

Hi guys,
Apologies for the delay, I haven't had a chance to have another look at cross sections for a while as I was exhausted from trying to get them converted. I think the Dynamic nature of these is absolutely fantastic, but unfortunately we need an easy way to get static versions dumped out for those of us who have drafting done in other platforms.
It seems that the source of the issues is the Reference Visible Edges being set to "Dynamic". This issue can be resolved if the reference setting is set to "Cached" (doesn't seem to matter what Cache Sync mode is set).
Now as long as "Merge Visible Edges of 3D Attachments" is set in Export options the surfaces seem to come out okay.
The Steps that work for me for Cross sections are:
1. Change Reference Visible Edges to "Cached"
2. Select all Text Nodes and drop Complex (& Application Elements?)
3. Export to DWG with all Reference settings set to Merge and "Merge Visible Edges of 3D Attachments" turned on
Hope this works for you guys...
