OpenRoads Designer SMD/XML files

Hello, I'm a new user to OpenRoads Designer (Connect Edition), having previously worked in GEOPAK years ago..

My question is, does OpenRoads Designer use a xml or smd file for reading survey PCODES like I used to have in GEOPAK?

If so, where do you go about selecting this? If not, where do I go about setting up this information so my survey imports correctly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!

  • OpenRoads CONNECT does not use the XML/SMD/XIN as the SELECTseries4 program did.  It was a link to the native styles/preferences but those no longer exist in the program, so we can't connect or sync to them.  It is all tied to Survey Feature Definitions with corresponding Element Templates, etc.

I haven't done tested this because the workspace we deliver is preset, but you may try using SS4 to create a base set of Feature Definitions through the XML/SMD to at least create a set of FD in a DGNLIB.  then that may can be brought up and utilized as a base template for the Feature Definitions.  Then you would have to go through and set all the settings and options instead of starting the Survey Feature Definitions from scratch.  Just an idea to try.  Otherwise, you must create the Feature Definitions for Survey for use with ORD CONNECT.
