OpenRoads - working with complex geometry - workflows

Hi,

I'm interested to see if anyone has found an efficient way to work with complex geometry when doing roadway layouts. This is for curb linework, edge of pavement etc - generally when you want to offset the alignment to create all linework. Dropping the rules works fine for some elements but others where you need to extend or trim, the interval system seems to be a nightmare.

How can the program offset an alignment to a complex chain? This would get around the time lost having to do linework with the offset complex entire/partial functions.

Thanks!

  • Using OpenRoads Connect Update 2. I would like to offset my alignment to create striping linework. There doesn't seem to be a simple way to create standard chains/lines off of complex geometry. Developing striping in the geometry tools and having all the striping be linear geometry would take significantly more time. If you drop the rules from complex geometry that has been offset, the standard offset command doesn't seem to work on that. Any other ideas?
