Good morning,
I wasn't sure if I should post this in the OpenRoads forum or the MicroStation forum, but I will try it here first. Is there a tool similar to the "Analyze Point" tool within MicroStation that will allow a user to query an alignment or a surface? We have some users in our firm that don't always have access to InRoads/Geopak, but it would be nice if they could query some of those civil features within MicroStation. In other words, find the profile elevation at a certain point, or find the elevation on a surface. It would definitely be nice if they could extract some basic information without having to occupy an OpenRoads license. We are currently utilizing SS4 products, not Connect or RD.
Thanks for any insight that could be provided.
Ken
Unfortunately, I think the answer to your question is no. In order to utilize the civil information, you must be occupying a civil product so plain MicroStation would not be able to see this type information.

It is possible to attach a Terrain DGN as a reference, and the Terrain Model tools can be used to "label" points. It's kind of limited, but if all you are looking for is the elevation at some known location, it can get you what you need.
I have not found any way to access alignment data with plain MicroStation. That appears to be exclusive to the Civil products. I'll be looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to say.

That's pretty much what I had found too, but was really hoping I was missing something. Oh well! Hope all is well with you!
It is - and I hope all is well in your world, too!
This, to my mind, is one of the huge steps backward from the "legacy" tools (SS2 and prior) to the OpenRoads tools. We have several users who need the information from the designs but do not, and will not, use InRoads or ORD. Accessing that information from OpenRoads designs will now require interruptions to our design staff from their production work to provide that information. This is one of the reasons we are slow in moving to the OpenRoads tools.
