WHay do I get an extra vertex causing the profile to turn back on itself when using the best Fit profile tool?

I'm working in GEOPAK SS4 08.11.09.878. When I use the Profile Best Fit Tool, I regularly get a best fit profile that doubles back on itself. I seem to be able to fix it by deleting that extra VPI.

  • Hi Katie,

I have tested a couple of scenarios and I’m not able to reproduce the double back (see attached video). Did you complex your profile first?

Please fill free to upload your DGN for testing https://bentley.sharefile.com/r-rdf12cccf7db42a08

    Thanks,

  • Sanders,

I uploaded some files using that link.

It may be that the problem is limited to profiles generated with the Overlay Vertical Adjustment tool

The corridor and profiles are in the _cm_kjj.dgn

profile "test3a" was generated with that tool

profile "bestfit3a" was a best fit of that 3a profile and you can see that it backtracks on itself.

  • Hi Katie,

I’m not too pleased with my results but my profile doesn’t turn back on itself (see video). I also tested with a vertical created with the Overlay Vertical Adjustment tool and that profile did not turn back on itself either. Have you tested other profiles or EXTGRN only?

    Thanks,

    Sanders

  • In this file,

I only seem to have trouble with profiles generated with the vertical overlay adjustment tool. Not, for example, if I create a profile with the Profile from Surface tool with a fixed 3-inch raise.
