It would be nice to be able to insert vertices after I've created a 3D complex element for use with control points for my corridor model, instead of having to re-create the entire 3D element for just 1 or 2 additional vertices. Is there a tool that I can do this with?
Have you tried using the Insert Vertex tool within MicroStation? You can go to Tasks > Modify Element - Insert Vertex and it will allow you to insert a vertex into a linestring or a complex chain. This will work with regular graphics but I don't think it will work with a geometry element within OpenRoads. For elements which are OpenRoads civil geometry, it will allow you to insert a vertex in the horizontal, but not the 3D geometry. The element is a 2D element with a ruled profile associated to it, so it will act a little different than just a plain line or chain. If it is geometry, you will need to drop it, add the vertex and re-complex the element.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have tried the basic microstation tool to add a vertice and you are correct that it will not allow this tool for a 3D feature. The best procedure I have found to add a vertice is exactly as you have explained. I dropped the 3D element, added the vertice, chained the linestring back together, then transformed it back to a 3D element. Not the quickest version I was hoping for, but its the best option to date.
