Does anyone else see very slow times in ORD when opening files or switching files. On my machine, it takes 2+ minutes to open a file, nealry that long to switch between files. And if I open the libraries branch of standards in Project explorer can take 5 minutes just to expand the list.

I am aware your post is 8 months old. Recently ORD Update 5 was released. Have had you chance to test whether the product speed was increased?

It is painfully slow ... especially when attachments in the ORD file are live-nested.
It slows down to a crawl when working in a cloud-based PW environment.
Nope, very frustrating. On our major projects, we have people who are scared to shutdown their sessions in case some one asks them to show something and it will take them 5-10 mins to get back in.
This is one of the last things holding ORD back generally (especially in PW) so hopefully is a high priority on Bentleys list.

Ok, That's what I thought. Also , we have noticed a difference when files are set to live nest at 99 depth (by default) compared to 2 or 3 depth level.
What are we suppose to do detach all references from model files.

Hi Mark,
For us the slowest openings are for files that have attached terrain model - especially large complex terrain. In the complex terrain dgn we keep the attachments with the individual terrains (which form part of the complex terrain composition) switched off. And yet all the individual terrain files are getting loaded when a file with the attached complex terrain e.g. geometry file or corridor is being opened. In geometry or corridor files we keep nesting off for the terrain attachment.
Why the individual terrain files get loaded in this case? It is not possible to update the complex terrain without opening the file first so these files should not need to be loaded at opening of a geometry file.
Do you experience this same?

Complex terrains are great but all files used in the complex terrain will get loaded with the file if it is attached to any dgn.
You may try and deactivate the complex terrain. This will turn the rules off. To update the complex terrain you would have to activate the terrain and let it re process. Then deactivate it again. We had trouble with the complex terrain crashing SUE files Once we deactivated the terrain it worked fine.
Not sure if this will help with loading all corridor references attached to the terrain , but worth a try.
Hi Zane,
Thanks for the tip. We will keep it for working with SUE files.
Unfortunately, deactivating rules on complex terrain doesn't prevent ORD from loading the individual terrain files when opening geometry file.
