Yes I agree with your comment a bit painful when using the software all day long... Therefore I use a function key with "choose none" set to it. If you are using the Bentley default funckey.mnu for ORD this is already set on the F4 key. There are some other good ones in there also like open the template editor etc. I also added choose element to a function key to reduce my mouse movement...

I don't think there is a way to do that either. But, you can set up the ESC key to end any command and go back to the default tool, which is the element select tool. This is in the user preference section somewhere.

I don't think there is. I have got into the hbit of ging back to the element selection tool. Let me have a further look at finding a workaround.
