Using SS4 Open Roads vertical tools, once the vertical alignment has been placed using the complex vertical tools all the grades, length of tangents etc could be edited very nicely.
Maybe I have missed a setting somewhere but in Open Roads Connect Editions after placing the vertical alignment using the Vertical Complex Geometry the only things you can change are the curve length and K value? So the image below shows the grade and distance white and cannot be edited but the cyan curve length and K value can be edited.
Please help?
Hi Martin
In ORD we now have what they call a base element and interval. The white text you are seeing is the actual length to the start of the vertical curve. This could be shorter or longer than your base element. If you right click the grade line you will be able to edit the grade as per SS4. It's a bit confusing at the first and even worst when using civil cells with complex elements inside them!

Ross
Hi Ross,
Thanks for your response. Confusing indeed and not easy to change grades this way!
Further more how do you lock a back grade and slide a VPI along the locked grade and so changing the front grade? As the sliding grade arrows at the VPI are also gone?
I agree Martin I am not a fan of this change in ORD. For your next question that appears to be a bug I think as you need a dot on the ahead grade like the back grade has. You are correct there are no sliding grade arrows on the ahead grade. Perhaps one of the Bentley guys can place a defect for us for update 3!
Oh dear back to SS4 I go!
How do I raise this as a bug with a Bentley guys?
You can raise a service ticket with them under the Connection Client then select Connection Centre. Roll down to the bottom of this screen and select "New Service Request". I took advantage of my time zone and logged this issue this morning. Will keep you posted on the result. Perhaps we have missed something...
Thanks Ross
