In XM -- Geopak places contours by line strings, whether you use 3 point smooth or bspline smooth.
Trouble is, I have LiDAR generated contours, thus they are lots of little line string segments, large portions of the contours look solid b/c the dash is computed using the little segemnts of linestring, and not for the linestring as a whole (I'd swear this was different in Ustn V8 and the plotted line strings would look ok)
