Place a Point on the Active Surface?

Question

When placing Point geometry you have the option to place a 3D point at the same time. When doing this it asks you the elevation. Is there a way use the elevation of the Active Surface automatically?

As of now, there is not a way to assign the elevation to the active terrain. I assigned this forum post to Enhancement 881889: [ Geometry] > Point > 3D Point - ability to pick terrain or assign elevation to active terrain for Z value.
