Hi Robert,

When you say 1803 breaks ORD, what happens exaclty?

The reason I ask is after months of discussion I've just had a new W10 workstation approved and I really don't want it to break ORD after I've said a new workstation will fix the majority of our problems.

I understand your struggle when it comes to ORD crashing, I have experienced my fair share of crashes on par with what you have described above.

I've had to make some hardware changes to overcome most ORD crashes. What is your current hardware setup?

I would also add, in my experience, ORD is very specific about workflows. Does it crash sporadically or when you perform one particular action?

To be honest, I would have expected more issues not having the references. Missing references can cause problems, but aas I said, Its been working OK for me.

So send me through what I need. There may be something on one of the references.

When it crashes, do you get the option of reviewing the Exception Log ? You should be able to save that out, and send that to me also. It may give some ideas as to what is causing the crashes.

Is this running using a managed workspace and ProjectWise ?

I wonder if, just as a test, take a copy of the DGN you are using, and use it locally. Set up a new test project, locally on your machine, and use one of our supplied workspaces and worksets. Training and Examples and Training - Metric would be good. Then try the operations which are crashing for you.

Anyway, f you send me the references, I'll work with them.

Good morning. SO I have now setup a brand new file and the problems are worse. It keeps crashing when creating a horizontal geometry. Not been in the office 15mins and it has fallen over once already. I am going to give up and wait for the issue to be resolved. I would appreciate someone calling me to keep me up to date with progress.

Hi Simon. I can only assume it has not fallen over for you because you do not have all the reference files I have in my version of the dgn. I can send you them all but I assume we are limited on maximum file size.

I have been kicked out at least 15 times today. My colleagues also get kicked out on average 10 times a day. This is now getting desperate as it is completely unworkable in its current state.

Hi David,

I haven't crashed the dataset you sent me yet. I have created vertical geometry for all of the alignments, I have created complexes. I have created a corridor and placed a template. I have then taken sections and profiles. All worked without fail.

It doesn;t look like its the winodws version issue either as you are running 1703 and the problem came in at W10 version 1803.

I'll keep looking at the data.

I'm guessing you are running with a managed workspace and the data is being stored on ProjectWise.

David: Did your computer recently upgrade to Windows 10 version 1803? This version of Windows breaks ORD. If it is installed you will need to revert back to previous Windows until Bentley and/or Microsoft can get things fixed.
