When trying to place a node with a split on an existing conduit my computer just crashes when I finish the command. Does anyone else have this problem or have a solution? I'm using Power GEOPAK v8.11.9.832.
This was a bug once upon a time. Your version is rather aged (circa 2015), so I'd suggest you make plans to upgrade. That version (832) also does not sound like one of the commercial releases and that may account for the bug. Maybe it is a priority build of some sort?
Here's the challenge for you though:
You could upgrade to 845 with near zero risk since 845 is compatible with previous versions. Problem is, 845 is a notoriously bad build. (I can say that because I helped build it (sigh)) and may have the same bug.
But you really want the current version (904) to keep you going until you are ready for ORD. Problem here is that there is an object model change after 845. The change is seamless (in my experience) going forward but you will not be able to share files with users of previous version.
In the meantime, try this: Use the Microstation break command to break the utility line at the appropriate spot. This will create a generic node which looks like a coupling. Select the "coupling" and change feature definition to whatever you want.

So in our office we have 878 installed but when we open a project on project wise they have 832 installed. Could this be a source of the problem?
Hello Robert.
I have been looking into this issue about and the funny thing is everywhere i look we are showing that we are running version 878 but when we open power geopak the version that shows up that we are using is 832 when you type in version in the key-in box. Also when you go to help in power geopak and check which version we are working in it shows 878. so i am a little confused on what is happening here. do you have any ideas?
thanks
Hmmm...isn't that interesting. I see the same thing when I type "version" in the keyin field, and I am using 904. This looks like the developers have been forgetting to update some field in the code for a few years?
Build 878 is a very good build. You will still want 904 if you are going to stay on SS4 for a while since it has some other fixes.
So, to your original question: I don't know. You will probably want to send a file sample to support for analysis.
