Looks like the profile has about 200 points (based off the XML output). I don't consider that overly complex.

Bingo, If it is just existing ground and the horizontal is very long the vertical could be ridiculously huge.

I just added a quick proposed profile using the OR vertical geometry tools and then exported that to native, and it worked. Would the existing profile geometry be too complex (too many VPIs) to export correctly?

I tried renaming it so that both have the same name, but it didn't work either. Since you are able to have multiple profiles associated with the same horizontal alignment, I don't think you should have to name your profile to match.

I have seen a few comments, related mostly to ORD, stating that the horizontal and vertical must have the same name. The same may be true for your GEOPAK build. You might give that a try.

Yes, that's the tool I typically use and it usually works well to export directly into my GPK file (similar to IR ALG file). If that fails, then I will try to export to XML and then import into GPK, but even that is failing.

I have always exported the Geometry files as an .alg file I only use XML for survey type files. did you use the General Geometry Export to Native tool?

I use Power InRoads but it is somewhat similar to Geopak

Yes it was. Although I was under the impression it didn't have to be set active such as instances when you have several profiles for a single alignment.

Was the Profile you created set to active before you exported the terrain?

I'm not sure I follow what you mean.I have an existing ground profile that I generated with OpenRoads tools using an alignment and the existing ground surface. I'm trying to get that profile exported to my GPK file.

Yeah, I can create that within the native tools if needed, I just prefer to use the OpenRoads tools as much as I can. I'm able to do this workflow on other projects, I'm just not sure why this one isn't working at all. More frustrating with the lack of errors or warnings.

Hi Ken,

Did you export the terrain/dtm to native? You have to have the native dtm loaded for a profile to diplay

You may have to wait until you are in Native tools to generate that existing ground profile. Is that an option?

Correct, the vertical geometry in the XML is the existing ground profile through the active terrain.

The xml file does not contain any vertical information. When you say you have an existing ground profile - is that just a profile through the active terrain? Have you designed a profile yet?
