Does OpenRoads Designer do everything that OpenRoads Concept Station can do? I am wondering if it is worth the investment to have both products, and train staff on both of them, or if it is better to only have OpenRoads Designer, and set it up accordingly when the desired level of the delivered model is conceptual.
I have never used Concept Station before, so I'm looking for someone to explain what characteristics of the software cannot be achieved using OpenRoads Designer (if any).
Thanks
Hi Christopher, let me know if Joe answered your questions or if you need more information, I'll be glad to provide them.
Marc,
Joe's response was very helpful. The company I work for needs to produce models at every level - from conceptual for proposals, to final design - so I can see where we could benefit from using ConceptStation for certain deliverables, and ORD for others, depending on the work we are doing.
The one thing I'm trying to learn is if we can use ORD as a substitute for ConceptStation, and whether or not ORD can do exactly the same things as ConcepStation. Joe mentioned a couple of things (downloaded mapping in 3D and basic templates for highways and bridges). These may not be available in ORD, or their functionality may be different.
I am trying to decide if we should try to train staff on both software packages, or if we can get away with training people on only one, or if we should have some of our staff specialize in ConceptStation and have others focus solely on ORD. Our roadway design group is growing, and these decisions are important to us.
If you could provide any insight into using ORD as a replacement to ConcepStation, that would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Chris
