Hi,
10+ years. First time using this site. If I'm in the wrong place please point me in the right direction. I guess BRT falls under InRoads then eh.
So the problem is this: I have design string (my track). I have a feature (my platform)
I just used the xml clearance report to get the platform X & Y in plane of rail at every platform cardinal point. Everything worked out great, I cross-checked using the tracking tool, the station, cant and offset all match. Happy days.
Now I would like to get the design radius at these cardinal points. I have a transition in the platform, so I planned to use the station base report to find the instantaneous radius at every given cardinal of the platform.
That worked out great too, however, for some reason that I cannot put my finger on, the first cardinal point is reported 100mm early every time I try this. I recreated this problem on every other platform, so it's a consistent thing.
I can work around this easy enough, but it is super annoying not knowing exactly why it is doing this. It's super annoying. If anyone can tell me what is causing this to happen I would be very happy.
Cheers
L
Hi Liam,
I haven't seen this before when running a station base report. Could you please provide your data or a sample data set and a workflow that I can reproduce? I'll look into it to see if a defect needs to be filed. Please provide your version number as well.
For more information about the Road and Site design tools, visit the Road and Site design WIKI at: http://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/w/road_and_site_design__wiki
Sure, I can provide the data. Is there a way to upload it here? I see an 'insert' tool below this prompt but it won't accept the files.
Liam,
It looks like it is only changing my 1/10th of a millimeter (1.4997m to 1.4996m). Is this greatly affecting your design? I don't know why it is happening, but it could be with the computations and how many significant figures the program uses. I can file a defect if this type of significant figure is necessary for your design.
Holly
Hi Holly,
What was the first line of your Station Base report? Did it report to 1802.876m or 1802.776m?
Ahhhhh, yes. It reported the stations 1mm off. I was focusing on a different column. If that is a significant figure deal breaker, please let me know. I can file it.
It's more that the first point on the Station Base report is at 1802.776m. There is no feature I'm aware of at this chainage. The other points are fine. Could you paste in your Station Base report? Just the first few lines perhaps?
Cheers. You have the same. So the anomaly is: what point has it picked up at "1+802.7760" under "Offset (specified) Alignment"
If you check out your Clearance report, along with the Track Alignment, the first point will be 1802.876m.
Like I said, I can live with this, it's just bugging the hell out of me why it does this.
