I have an ORD terrain mesh that is 800Mb. What tools can be used in ORD to reduce the file size?
I Geopak in the old days there were tools to thin TIN files?
I undestand that the accuracy of the terrain mesh will decrease but that is not an issue.
OK, I got it to create the MX Genio .txt file (needed to have the terrain features applied...)
So now whatever filter setting to Filter "thinning" has no effect on it? Title\Tin with any number etc.
Also, I tried a pure ASCII XYZ file, the "Filter" too thin is not available?
My guess is you can only thin Lidar or more complex dataset?https://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/w/road_and_site_design__wiki/55420/create-terrain-from-point-cloud-tin-and-tile-filters
PS Seems like A LOT of old SS2 InRoads Surface Tools are no longer available ???
Example: I tried using ORD for doing Dredging Volumes (in sections) and you have to select the tool each time and fill it out? And no "report" just save text to the CAD file?
Finally got around to trying this method "MX Genio export then Import" but errors out on Export
"Error Exporting file. Please check model and string names."
Any help would be appreciated!
PS I have tried leaving the 'Export Options" empty etc without any luck and can not find any help in the help doc's on what they do and what I should or shouldn't do with them and I'm not familiar with 'MX Genio' format.
You are correct, the contour thinning settings applies on linestrings and not Bsplines,
But these setting does enable control on density of points taken into account, which is the desired result.
You may generate Terrain, check result, change settings, then retriangulate without having to relaunch ORD.

Thanks for the extra info! This is the type of data I'm dealing with
If you want to simplify a terrain mesh, you first need to export it to MX Genio (in .txt)
Then import it back into Openroads, this way you will be able to import it back into Openroads and use the filtering ability that Vincent have talk. I never did this with a 800mb terrain but have done this before and it works.
