I recently discovered the option of adding "Pattern/Hatch" properties to an element template.
This got me thinking that I could add them to an element template, link this element template to a surface feature, then when using this surface feature on an open component the visualized data will show a hatch pattern. This hatch pattern can be used for pavement plans and simpler area quantities.
But that plan did not work. When adding this property to the element template, and using it in the feature definition of a surface feature, a hatch or pattern did not appear.
Can this be done or not - use a template drop in a corridor to produce a hatch surface area from an open component? Very useful if it can be.
I am using PowerGEOPAK 08.11.09.904
Thanks.
Great idea! Id love to find out as well

Anyone have any further thoughts on this?
Cheers

My first thoughts were around using reference presentation to change the 3d view to solid to fill the meshes in solid colour.
Back that will only work on solid fills of colour. My second thought then went to how slope symbols are created using Annotation Groups in Drawing Production. This is very powerful and wondering if that could be used for hatch patterns.

Can you explain your 2nd thought:

I use your first idea a lot - presenting the meshes as solid color. Then I mess around with overrides like transparency and color for specific plan presentation. But I am intrigued by this second idea...
Hi Alex,
Strange enough, when I last tried, adding an Element Template with pattern to a feature, this didn’t result in a pattern in cross sections (ORD 2019 R2 (and Geopack)) .
If you need automatic patterning of components in cross sections, you could use the pattern option in the material editor (3D-model - visualisation).
Not ideal, but it works.
