Dear colleagues,
I have a CAD file containing a simple straight angle drive path I'd like to use to check out an intersection I designed. I thought it'd be easy, just change the rotation and fiddle a bit with the insertion coordinates to position it.
Not quite so. I verified the microstation angle settings to be gradians, as are the Mx design values. Using Distance/Gradient Between 2 Points I measured the angle and entered it in the References's Rotation box. It correctly recalculated a >200grad to a negative angle, but the reference's rotation is all wrong. Also, the offset X and Y coordinates are modified so for every tweak on the angle I'll have to reposition the reference. I didn't find a way to interactively rotate and position the reference.
Is there a better wayto do this? I want to stay within Mx, so no exporting and using another package.
Kindest regards, Robin
Why not just reference the file in top view, and then (using the reference tools) move it to the correct XY, then rotate using 'By Points' - that will save you having to try measure angles and XY coordinates.

Hi Mark, thank you for your reply. I'm not quite familiar with Microstation manipulation commands, but I'll try and find them. I'll expect to have to change to the CAD menu?
IN the Reference Dialog image you posted above, the Move and Rotate commands are icons along the top (8th and 6th from the right, if I have counted correctly).
This works like a charm :D
Magic!! :-)
