Exporting 3d Tin to Topcon GPS

How do I create 3d faces to export DTM to Topcon GPS for uploading into earthmoving GPS controlled equipment?

I have tried visualising triangles to 3d DWG file but it creates a Mesh of triangles rather than shapes?

  • Hi Matt,

Reading your original post, it appeared as though getting the 3D faces was the desired result.

LandXML export should provide the DTM breaks and spots etc. Assuming that the Topcon software supports LandXML import - that should solve the problem.

DTM>Utilities>Export to LandXML. That should provide all the DTM features and the triangle faces.

    HTHs

Now... if you want specific graphical features out of a Modeler design (and not ALL breaklines and spots from the DTM), you could export the 3D elements from Modeler into a DWG file. I believe I saw you menation that the Topcan software can import data from a DWG?

    1) You would need to create a DWG file.

    2) Reference your Modeler DGN file

    3) Open your Modeler project (answer "no" to the message about a different file name)

    4) Project>Export>3D Elements.

    5) Set the filter to find/create only the elements from the Model that you want.

    6) Export the elements. They will be written to the DWG as 3D elements.

    Will that help??

  • Hi Matt,

    Option 2: I tried this.

    1) Dropped the mesh in the DGN.

    2) Save Settings.

    3) Export to DWG.

    4) Open DWG in PowerCivil.

    5) Info on the trinagles and they are shapes (not mesh).

    Seems to work as expected.
