Point control produces complex element, to which the controlled line snaps

ORD CE 2018 R3

See attached image: I have two alignments that both start in the north at the same point, run exactly alike for some distance and then diverge somewhere on their way to the south. I try to model this split with the use of a point control for the left lane marking of the diverging lane. Out of nowhere, a complex element appeared, to which the controlled line snaps at one point, creating an unwanted outlier. The split is a corridor of its own, with just one template. Point control runs from start to end.

I have no idea what causes this behaviour and recreating or processing the corridor yields exactly the same results. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

Merlijn
