My colleagues and I are running into what appears to be a .NET error that has been around for some time, but in a new situation. The software is OpenRoads Designer 2018 Release 3 Update 5.
In certain design files, the error pops up every time we select Corridor Objects > Point Control. When selecting another point control the error pops up again. Every time the error pops up, it pops up twice.I have included a screenshot of the pop-up and the complete text from the error message.
The error is present in all corridors in the file, even a new corridor. It is possible to create an new point control, but editing an existing one is hard to do and sometimes does not work. Also, when finishing a new point control there are two pop-ups with this error. The error is limited to only a few files, other files with point controls are working without any problems. The error is not limited to a certain pc or version of windows, because my colleagues have the same problem with the “infected” files. All files have worked without errors before. Any ideas to fix this are welcome, because recreating the entire file is not an option.
Thanks, Jan

Hi Jan,
Please first try this:
If you still crash, please send me the data set and I can look into it. I would need ALL of the reference files as well. You can upload them here: https://bentley.sharefile.com/r-ree95838083143359. Please be specific and tell me which dgn to open, which corridor to edit, which point control to edit.
Holly

Hi Holly,
I have tried the suggested solution, however the problem remains the same. As soon as I select the point controls the pop-up is back. I have uploaded all files. Because of the folder structure I have placed all files inside a single zip-file. In a separate zip-file I have also provided the workspace that is used with these design files. Our workspace is not build on top of the supplied workspaces so you might want to use it. The file you need to open is “DWM MWE1.dgn” As for the corridor that is affected, it doesn’t really matter which one you try, they all have the same problem. But just in case I’m wrong, the corridor I was working on when I first noticed this, is “MWE1 dak Hof ter Lo”. When you open the file it will be in the centre of the screen. Since there are a lot of corridors you might prefer the explorer to select it. It’s in the conceptual section of the corridors. All three point controls present at the moment are affected. File: DWM MWE1.dgn Corridor: MWE1 dak Hof ter Lo Point control: any
thanks for the files. I was able to see the same problem you describe. I didn't notice anything wrong with the dgns though that might cause the error. The only thing I did see was that you had two Default-3D models. Did you create these two models? I have a feeling this might have something to do with it. I will file a defect with your dgns and send them to development.
Defect 979784: .NET Framework Error on Point Controls
The double 3D model is not made on purpose, but is somehow created automatically while creating coridors. For a moment I thought you might be on to the source of the problem, with the double 3D model, but I have checked other design files with the same problem. They don’t have a double 3D model.
