Is there a way to have the total length of a complexe element to show up in an item type? or in Microstation Report? Is it possible to share an example? file or other? I can get it to work for a non-complexe element like a civil line but not a complexe one.
Any help will be very appreciated, thanks.
Hi Jeremie,
Have a look in the Power Platform help (on the top right on the ribbon), and search for item types - specifically: "[Technology Preview] Expression"
There is now the ability to use expressions with Item Types meaning you can extract any property from an element an include it in an Item Type, eg. this.GetElement().TotalLength.

Hi Mark and thanks for the fast reply. I have try this expression and it work fine with civil line and arcs, but I can't get it to work for complexe element, is it working on your side?
for Complexe element:
for civil line:
not perfect for line but at least I have something.
Since it's technology preview I suppose it's normal?
Try this: this.GetElement().LinearElement_Length
You can get a list of all applicable expressions for an element by selecting it, do a ribbon search for "Named Expressions" and when the dialog comes up, go to Utilities > Report Symbols and you'll get a full list of all expressions you can use for that element type.
Regarding the number precision, it seems to be linked to your DGN/seed Resolution, set in your Settings > File > Design File settings (Working Units). In my case its set to 10,000 so I add a divide of 10,000 in my expressions.
Have a look at the Asset Manager (accessed by the keyin: ASSETMANAGER START). It allows you to define bulk expressions via excel spreadsheet and use different expressions for different element types, like meshes, shapes, and feature definitions.
Hi All,
This feature looks just like what I am looking for, but is there any documentation on the syntax for all the options available. I see a few in the help but obviously there is a lot more, where can I find them?
John.
I googled "[Technology Preview] Expression" and found this:
