I've created a terrain model from spot level from a referenced dwg file using graphic filter method. Triangulation was done smoothly. But I'm facing a lot of issue working with the terrain model. As you see in the attached screenshot, irrespective

RE: Openroads Terrain

Kind of a long shot, but is the contour interval greater than the elevation range of the terrain?

RE: Openroads Terrain

If (as it seems from what you said) that it is related to having a DWG as reference file, then I think you should take this up with the Technical Support Group.

But it does seem very strange that you have the terrain created, but it is not showing the contours.

RE: Openroads Terrain

Yes Mark. Levels are turned on. And as per settings, it should display the terrain. Even with same feature definition, and settings, everything is working fine in other dgn. I have tried to create terrain from same .dwg file, this time with Max Triangle length option, in case any problem happened during triangulation. But this time too, I'm facing the same problem. So, is it due to creating graphic filter from referenced file? For another project, when I converted the dwg to dgn and created the terrain model following same steps, I did not face any issue.

1. Are the levels that the contours are drawn on turned on?

2. Even though the feature definition is called 'Existing Contours', does its settings actually the display contours?

RE: Openroads Terrain

Yes. Terrain can be displayed properly in 3D and dynamic contour is also showing.

1. It is in a 3D file i.e. if you rotate the view, so you see the terrain in 3D properly?

2. Using (from the terrain tab) Analysis > Analyse Point - do you get the dynamic contour following your cursor when you select the terrain you want to analyse?

RE: Openroads Terrain

Thanks Mark for looking into the matter. I have changed the feature definition/contour interval as you suggested. But after that too, the contours are not getting displayed. Screenshot is attached for your reference. Triangles can be displayed though. For the same topo data, previously i created tria model in MX and imported that tria model to Openroads terrain while using MX Roads SS4. That time I could change anything as desired. But this time, I attached the topo data(.dwg file) as a reference in Openroads and created the terrain model using graphic filter method. By using this approach I am facing this issue.

That line is telling you that there were no contours in the original data.

Change the feature definition to 'Existing Contours' and the calculated contours will display - also, under 'Calculated feature', you can amend the interval that you want them displayed.

The 'QuickStart for Terrain Display' training module may be useful.
