thanks for the info and the link to your GenioFeatures file. Exactly what I was looking for. For the project I'm currently modelling, I'm doing the road design in ORD and the drainage design in MXDrainage so I need to import the kerb strings into MX along with the various terrain models. I export the drainage model as a 3D solid and reference into ORD so it can be used for clash detection and show the stormwater pipes in my cross sections.

Your routine has saved me a lot of time not having to reinvent the wheel setting up the XML file.

cheers,

For the benefit of everyone one else we've just found an issue when using more than 3 spaces in a model name - is this the issue youre having?

RE: ORD Release 6 export to MX genio

Hi Stewart,

What we've found works well is to only export:

Alignments from 2D model

3d strings from 3D model

If you export from 2D, it will export the geometry for all corridor elements, etc. as "real" geometry instead of a 3d point string. That's why its best to use the 3d model for non-geometric string export. We just use a Graphical filter or even turn off unnecessary levels, select the elements we need and export.

The mapping XML lives here: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner\10.0.0\prefs\. I have requested an enhancement to get this path definable by a config variable so we can store it in our workspaces and distribute amongst our teams but it isn't in yet (hopefully makes it one day). In the meantime we copy our mapping XML to all our users to avoid the pain of each user mapping hundreds of features on first use.

Here's what our mapping XML looks like:

communities.bentley.com/.../GenioFeatures.xml
