In MX classic it was possible to export 3D markings to sketchup to get them visible in NavisWorks.
What is the workflow to get the 3D markings from our ORD-model visible in Navisworks?
Thanks!
Hi Andre,
Sketchup export is still there so the MX process should be the same.
We manipulate our linemarking to get "real" dimensions for Navisworks:
1. Make sure your linemarking linestyles are using real widths/thicknesses.
2. Open a new blank 3d dgn and reference in 3d model that has linemarking and apply a Z offset of 0.005 in the reference dialog. This raises your linemarking to just above the surface for full visibility.
3. Merge your reference to master
4. Select all linemarking and drop linestyles using icon or "DROP LINESTYLES" keyin. Note a Microstation CE bug selecting complex linestyles here may mean this step will have to be done in v8i. You will see the linemarking now are shapes.
5. Select elements and convert to mesh (a few ways to do this).
A bit of mucking around, but you'll get good results in Navisworks.
Regards,
Mark

Is there a way to convert to mesh in OpenRoads? I'm trying to export ENV lines to LumenRT. Thanks
Try the Mesh from Element or Stitch Mesh tools in the Mesh Ribbon Tab of the Drawing Workflow or do a Ribbon search.
