Hi,
I would like to ask how to show Centerline Symbol in cross sections?
I am using InRoads SS2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
- Ron
Exactly what do you mean, Ron? Do you wish to show it on the grid or as a cell-based flag whenever the template crosses the centerline?
Mark
Thank you Mark for your response. I just want to have the centerline symbol in cross sections so that it represents the centerline from where the offsets are coming from. It can be either on the grid or a cell.
Mark, agreed, this is one essential feature which i am missing. Thanks for opening this to me.
Best Regards,
Ron
Ron,
Since you are so early in the development of SS2, I would suggest that you actually move your efforts into OpenRoads. One can export the SS2 XIN file into Openroads with a new utility which Bentley has provided, but why not learn how to produce files which are geared towards the future? Our XIN file for SS2 encompasses almost 36MB of data which I am currently moving into OpenRoads. Things would be much easier for me if I were not "mentally dependent" upon quite a different manner of perceiving structure through years of working with earlier versions of software.
Thanks, I'll consider your suggestion Mark. I've always wanted to dive into Openroads . I see in forums the connect edition is having a lot of issues so i think i can jump only until InRoads SS4.
Please be aware that SS4 is not being fixed or updated at this point, so any bugs you run across there are going to stay broken. It does introduce a number of the OpenRoads concepts, but is still reliant on a lot of the SS2 tools. It's a strange hybrid.
Connect/OpenRoads may still be under development, but they are at least being developed.

Thank you @MaryB for the info. Appreciate it. Unfortunately i do not have access at the moment in those newer versions. I am a little confused with CE and OpenRoads. Does CE have OpenRoads? To my mind, OpenRoads started in SS3.
SS3 & SS4 introduced some of the OpenRoads design tools and concepts, but they were not the finished OpenRoads package. They are based on MicroStation V8i, and rely on a combination of newer design ideas and legacy tools.
True OpenRoads is only available on the Connect platform.
Much appreciated for your response MaryB.

Yes, I am actually speaking of OpenRoads CE. We decided not to attempt the interations (SS3, SS4) simply because of their "hybrid" nature. The change to CE has been challenging, but I feel worthwhile. As SS3 and SS4 still use XIN files, my suggestion was to skip the development aspect of those platforms and do your development within CE and start using it.
Just use it on a pilot or test project before you attempt to put it into production, otherwise you'll potentially kill that job.
