ORD-Seed File

Hi.

While using a 3D seed file, the "Default-3D" in saved views does not appear. And also, in 3D view both of the "Current Active Linear 3D Element", and the "Complex element" for the same 3D Element appears. It creates confusion in 3D views. This does not happen while using 2d Seed file. Can anyone suggest any material to elaborate how these seed file works and when to use 2D and when to use 3D seed file. Additionally, in my design I have used a 3d seed and getting 2 lines for each element which is very confusing and messing with the 3D Model. What can be done about that?

Thanks in advance.

  • 3D Seed file - to used when dealing with TERRAIN and SURVEY data ONLY, as these are 3D creations.

2D Seed file - to be used with geometry, corridors, superelvation etc. You create your geometry etc in the 'Default' 2D model, and ORD will look after the 3D world in the model 'Default-3D'.

If you use a 3D seed file for geometry/corridor, the 2D geometric element and its 3D representation are in the same model,

"What can be done about that?" DO NOT USE A 3D SEED FILE if you are not creating a terrain or processing survey data.
