I need to place slope labels in site plans to show the magnitudes of grades in specific directions (i.e. longitudinal and cross slopes of sidewalks). I need those labels to be dynamic to changes in the design. Does Openroads provide this capability? I have yet to see this demonstrated anywhere.
Still need an answer to this. We are not happy with Civil 3D for several reasons but we cannot consider OpenRoads if it doesn't provide the functionality we need for site work. Dynamic slope labels is essential.

I am desperate for an answer. I am disappointed at the lack of response considering how many views to the topic are shown. This tells me the software does not have the capability or there is a serious deficiency in the user base. It is very frustrating as a prospective customer that we can't get answers to basic questions about the products. No interactive demos, no interaction with sales team, no demo versions. How does Bentley expect to sell their product?
Yes you can you just have to set up your Linear 3d Annotation Groups the right way and you can have it annotate your line base on the active surface.
I think that is what I am looking for. Those arrows are part of the labels, right? If you move them they update according to the surface? Are you able to customize the labels to show slopes as ratios (i.e. 3:1) and include other parameters such as length of the arrow?
Neil / Jeremie, I know it's been a little while but I'm having the same issue with wanting to display terrain slopes on plan view. Did you figure out how to do it? If so, can you share more details? Jeremie's reply shows that it's possible, but it's not enough for me to figure out how to do it.
I am not using OpenRoads so I can't help you. My question was an inquiry about it's capabilities.
I suggest you try to play a little bit with the provided linear 3D annotation for ditch as a start. The annotation is base of the profile of the feature, if you use the create auto3D toggle button the software is going to asign a best fit profile to the feature that your are gonna create. You then have to display the slope of your profile in plan view using the annotation group. It work best with design surfaces because they are "perfect" compare to a regular survey.
