SUDA - ANALYSIS OF DOUBLE AND TRIPLE BOX CULVERTS IN STORM SYSTEM

Does SUDA have the ability to analyze double and triple box culverts in a storm sewer conveyance system?

  • Hi Viet

    The answer is Yes.

There is a property for a conduit, in the Utility Properties, called “Number of Barrels.” Set this to two or three, as needed. This will draw the two or three barrels in the 3D model, as long as the conduit is a circular, box, or pipe-arch shape. There’s a second property for “Is Culvert?” which needs to be set to true.

Once you’ve set a conduit up to be a culvert, you need to set the properties that state how the upstream and downstream headwalls are configured. Again, this is in the Utility Properties for the conduit / culvert.

Here’s a link to a presentation done at the Learn conference:

Look for “Designing and Extending Culverts”.

It’s only for a single barrel, but having two or three barrels is only a case of changing a property, as I’ve noted above.

  • Unfortunately our company does not own OpenRoads Designer Version 4. We are using Microstation V8i Version 08.11.09.832.

I was able to change the Number of Barrels, but it does not display the 2 or 3 barrels in 3D Model.

I am not able to change the section type to box without it changing back to circle.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe there is any support/patch for this version.

    Thanks,
