SS4 Cross Section Help - New User

How can I get 2 surfaces to show up on my cross sections? I can get my existing surface to show up but that is it.

Thanks!

  • Hey Jess:  Hope all is well with you.

The cross-sections are direct reflection of whatever is shown in the 3D model. For example, the workflow culd go like this:

    1. Make a new DGN to house my cross-sections
    2. Attach references for alignments and existing ground terrain.
    3. Make the existing ground active terrain.  (Nothing special about doing this or doing it right now. At some point I need to trigger creation of the 3D model in the DGN and this is my habit of when and how to do it.)
    4. Attach all the corridors you want to show in the cross-sections.
    5. Attach all other terrain models you want to show in the DGN.
    6. In the 3D model, you can (if needed) turn levels on and off.  Anything off in the model will also be off in the cross-sections.
    7. In other words the cross-sections should be a matter of What You See (in 3D) is What You Get (in cross-section.

A side note: I had a project from one of our designers come across my desk some time ago where a bunch of stuff was missing in the cross-sections. Turns out he had somehow made all the corridor feature as construction class.  I have no idea how he did this (neither does he Disappointed) but when I turned on constructions in View Attributes for the cross-section model then they appeared.
