[IR/OR Ss4] Automatic Annotation of Plan and Profiles of Alignments - Issues

In setting up our latest preferences, I decided to use Text Styles in addition to our Named Symbologies that the View Geometry tools call up.

For Plan annotation, I found the Line Spacing in a text style (as a factor of text height) seemed to function as expected. However, the same named symbology used for Profile annotation is reading the line spacing as the traditional spacing - in design file units, resulting in huge spacing between lines of text.

I also found that the Automatic Display in a profile view does not honor many of the settings that are in the assigned preference. And there are settings it is using that are drastically different than any save preference. For example. The vertical curve annotation in the correct preference uses a TTF and color red. The two other preferences use RSC fonts and plot white. When we use the view active vertical, they plot red using an RSC font. Other issues are point annotations in the preference are set to draw a two segment leader with a 90 degree bend, They display as straight lines with no bend  using the View Active Vertical and also during dynamic edits.

  • Caddcop,

Preferences for ss4 where changed several times with the different updates.  Some things that worked before seem to have issues.

I have a suggestion for the Text Styles in InRoads ss4.  In SS4 I made new textstyles just for InRoads annotation in order to get the line spacing to work.  In one the the ss4 versions you could change the textstyle line spacing type and it would work.  I can't remember if it was At least, exact or automatic.  You want to test that out.  InRoads seems to use the absolute value while Microstation uses a text height factor value.

I have had the same issues with the auto display of alignments also , I couldn't figure it out. I defaulted to using view annotation command by selecting the pref.  The auto display worked fine in ss2.
