Where's my stationing in the 2nd alignment at the red circle.  These appear to be real darn similiar.

  • The problem is a rounding issue. If the actual distances are calculated from the coordinates and carried out past 6 decimal places you will see the ones that label have a distance of 299.9999995 and those that don't are 299.9999994. However, D&C Manager should honor the rounding defined in the user preferences. I have logged a ticket for this.

  • Mark,

That's what I figured but I checked the chains out to 6 decimals.  Both ending in zeros.

These two chains are just a couple of about thirty sideroads that I used as examples.  It's about 50-50 on how they visualize.  I will say that all the chains were created using cogo not by graphics.

Esther, send me an e-mail at lhicks@hlcllp.com and I'll be happy to send you any pertenant data for testing.

     Thanks

  • Lucas - I was able to reproduce what you are seeing, but D&C manager seems to be visualizing like it should.  I've attached my dgn with the results.

     Here is what I did:

    Chain1 --   Store point 101, then stored point 102 by traverse 300.0000001 feet due north.  Store Chain1 from points 101 & 102.

    Chain2 --   Store point 201, then stored point 202 by traverse 300.000000 feet due north.  Store Chain2 from points 201 & 202.

When I visualized the chains and stationing using D&C Manager, Chain1 shows Sta. 10+00 due to the fact that the chain extends ever so slightly beyond it.  Chain2 ends exactly at 10+00, so it doesn't show.

Could this be what you are experiencing?

  • Lucas,

D&C Manager  should not draw two identical chains differently if the same D&C Manager item is used to plot the chain. To determine if this is what is happening in your case, I would need the D&C Manager database that you are using, the item you are selecting and your gpk file. If you will send me those files I would be happy to look at what is happening.

  • Sorry about that.  It was close to closing time.  I just don't see why the D&C manager would drawn identical chains different.  On the job it's close to 50-50 how they come out.  That's unexceptable.  Unless it's my fault then that's to be expected.

Anyone else seen this happen?  I can give the data set if necessary.
