David Settlemyer stated in the 2018 conference Opensite Keynote video that 80% of project time budget goes into producing the plan documents. I agree with that assessment. He also said the goal of Opensite is to transpose the time budget to be 80% design, 20% plan production. I would like to see how Opensite addresses that problem.
Neilw - One of the main focuses of OpenSite Designer is not just making a new tool but making one that takes advantage of the model-centric design environment. By working in a model that has a parametric design focus users will spend more time working on options and details. Plan production is being reduced by technology such as text favorites, sheeting by named boundaries along with other drawing production tools. The intelligent design components are not just for design they can hold information about the design. This information can be used in text favorites to help create auto-labeling. With this being OpenSite Designer Release 1, we are looking to add the improved plan product process over the next releases.
