Good Morning,
I'm working on doing some fine tuning on our workspace and realized that there is not currently a utility to convert Annotation Group XML files to Excel, similar to the other migration utilities. It would be helpful to have such a converter, as I could hide columns and verify settings in several different Annotation Groups that should be similar (specifically Plan Annotation between different alignments). Also, I could do lookups to ensure that my Feature Symbologies are linked to my Annotation Groups via VLOOKUPS, much like I do with the other links between Feature Definitions, Feature Symbologies, Element Templates, and the Level Library. Currently, I'm using the snip tool and comparing line by line. Another possible option would be to use a program like Beyond Compare (which I just realized and will likely be requesting from IT after posting this). If anyone knows a more efficient mechanism to accomplish this or if there is a VBA utility out there, please let me know!
As always, thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Robert Huston
Excellent idea, Robert. We have 85 (yes 85!) alignment styles for ORD. An organized template structure allowed me to merely copy and replace differing alignment information once a master alignment annotation group was established. However, indeed it would be nice to use the tools in Excel to do exactly those things which you have mentioned. As far as I know, no such exporting procedure works in the manner for which *we* would like it to.
Best Regards,
Mark
Thanks for the response Mark. I can see us getting up in that range. We will be navigating a simultaneous CADD standards update and software update and am trying to be proactive in trying to figure out standards management techniques inside and outside of ORD, mostly due to the difficulty in updating Feature Definitions for large data sets.
